CKOT Services
Occupational Therapy Sessions
At CKOT, our 60-minute occupational therapy sessions include 45 minutes of face-to-face occupational therapy with the child, at least one caregiver, and the occupational therapist. In these sessions we use play and your child's interests to engage them in activities that develop the skills they need to achieve their individualised therapy goals.

The remaining 15 minutes are allocated for the occupational therapist to complete necessary documentation from the session and plan and prepare for the child's future sessions.

These sessions are billed for a total of one hour ($193.99). The frequency of sessions will be determined by the child's therapy goals and the needs of the family.

Initial Assessments
Our assessment process involves a combination of standardised gross and fine motor assessment tools completed with the child, as well as comprehensive questionnaire-style assessment tools completed by caregivers (and educators when appropriate). These assessment tools, in combination with our clinical observations of the child throughout the assessment process and discussions with the child's caregivers, provide us with a detailed understanding of the child's strengths and challenges in regards to their current motor skills, sensory processing, and executive functioning.

The assessment process also includes an initial parent/caregiver meeting with the occupational therapist (without the child present) to allow for open discussion of challenges and for the occupational therapist to answer any questions the caregivers may have.

A detailed written assessment report is also included, along with a follow-up meeting between the occupational therapist and the parents/caregivers (without the child present) to discuss the assessment findings and make a plan for ongoing occupational therapy if this is appropriate based on the assessment results.

Assessments are charged according to the hours required to complete the assessment process, including the initial caregiver meeting, the assessment session(s) with the child, scoring and evaluation, production of a comprehensive assessment report, and follow-up caregiver meeting. The full assessment process usually takes 6 to 8 hours (completed over several days) and is charged by the hour, with an hourly rate of $193.99.

Home, School, Preschool and Daycare visits
The majority of our services are completed at our CKOT clinic in Warners Bay. However occasionally a visit to a child’s home, school, or daycare is required to ensure holistic and consistent care across all of the child’s most frequented environments. These sessions are useful for observing the child and providing tailored intervention in a variety of environments, and also allows discussion with family members or educators. Out-of-clinic sessions are billed at an hourly rate of $193.99, and will also incur an additional cost for travel.

For visits where the parents/caregivers are not present (e.g. school or daycare), 30 minutes of additional time will be used following the visit for communication and handover (via phone or email) to the parents/caregivers and the school/daycare. This will detail the occupational therapist’s observations from the visit, a summary of any discussions with staff, and recommendations/strategies provided. This additional 30 minutes will be billed at a rate of $96.99.

Correspondence
Phone and email correspondence with parents/caregivers, educators, health professionals, or other’s in the child’s support system will be billed according to the time taken to complete the correspondence at an hourly rate of $193.99.

Documentation and resource development will be billed according to the time taken to complete, at an hourly rate of $193.99.
